Legal and Regulatory Issues

The Joint Commission accredits most health care organizations to ensure the provision of safe care and compliance with performance measures. Site visits occur every 3 years and are scheduled with the Joint Commission. Anesthesia technicians must show proficiency in credentialed tasks and policies during site visits. Federal funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is contingent on JC accreditation. The Joint Commission is a nonprofit organization.
